David M. Marshall

President & Director of The East Bay Summer Wind & Youth Ensembles

 

Mr. Marshall is a native of Bristol, RI and a 1998 graduate of Berklee College of Music with a B.S. in Music Education. He also earned a M.Ed in School Administration from American International College in 2010. For 9 years he was the Director of Music for the Swansea Public School System in Swansea, Massachusetts where he was also the director of The Joseph Case High School "Cardinals" Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Chorus and Show Choir.  In June of 2007, he took over the duties of Director of Bands at Somerset High School in Somerset, Massachusetts. There he directs the Somerset High School "Blue Raider" Marching Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Show Choir Pit Band, Musical Production Pit Orchestra and is the Winter Music Activities Director supervising all activities of the Winter Percussion and Winter Color Guard. Under his direction, those instrumental and vocal performing ensembles excelled and earned numerous group and individual awards at festivals and competitions throughout Massachusetts, as well as in New York City, Washington D.C., Allentown, PA, Virginia Beach, VA and in Disney World in Orlando, FL. Many of his former and current students have successfully auditioned for the Southeastern District MMEA and Massachusetts' MMEA All-State Honors Ensembles. Additionally, he is an active member of the following music organizations: MENC (The National Association for Music Education), MMEA (Massachusetts Music Educators' Association), TI:ME (Technology Institute for Music Educators), NESBA (New England Scholastic Band Association) and USSBA (United States Scholastic Band Association). In addition, Mr. Marshall is also works as a professional arranger and composer for area show choirs and marching bands. He arrangements and compositions have earned some of those ensembles both local, regional and national titles. Mr. Marshall was a performing member of The East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble from 1990 through 2006 on the alto saxophone and was both ensembles' assistant conductor from 1996 to 2006 under the tutelage of Mr. Robert Arsenault.  He has been the Director and President of both the East Bay Summer Wind Ensemble and East Bay Summer Youth Ensemble since 2006. In 2008 he was selected by The Cambridge Who's Who as the 2008 Executive of the Year representing the Music Education Industry. Mr. Marshall is a life-long resident of Bristol, RI where he lives happily with his wife, Carrie and two children, David and Sarah.

 


 

Andrew S. Arcello

Director of The East Bay Summer Chorus

 

 

Mr. Arcello is a 2010 graduate of Providence College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education with concentrations in voice and choral music. He began teaching at Somerset High School in 2010, where he directs the Concert Choir, Treble Choir, Show Choir, and Chorale. In addition, he teaches Voice Technique, Guitar, and Foundations of Music classes. Since 2005, Mr. Arcello has been the Director of Music (choir director and organist) at Holy Angels Church in Barrington, RI, and was recently appointed as the Director of Religious Education for the parish. During the summer months, he co-directs and teaches music at Linden Place Cultural Arts camp for students ages 6-13 in Bristol, RI. As an active choral singer, Mr. Arcello has had the opportunity to perform with the Moscow and St. Petersburg Conservatory Choirs while on tour in Russia. Mr. Arcello is an active member of the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), NPM (National Association of Pastoral Musicians), RIMEA (Rhode Island Music Educators Association), and MMEA (Massachusetts Music Educators' Association). An avid traveler, Mr. Arcello has experienced cultural music around the world and deepened his appreciation for world music. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Music degree in Music Education from Boston University. Mr. Arcello is a life-long resident of Bristol, RI.

 


 

Lori J. Anderson

Director of The East Bay Summer String Ensemble

Lori Anderson earned her B.S in Music Education from the University of Connecticut, her Masters in Music Education (with a minor in violin performance) from the University of Rhode Island, and her CAGS in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State College. She has worked in the Abington Public Schools, the Dartmouth Public Schools, and the Somerset Public Schools as a string specialist/music educator. She currently serves as the Coordinator of the Fine and Performing Arts and High School Orchestra Director for the Somerset School System. Her professional memberships include the MMEA (Massachusetts Music Educators' Association), the ASTA (American String Teacher's Association), and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Ms. Anderson has been active in MMEA and Southeast District serving as manager for both the Junior and Senior District Festivals, and served as the manager of the All-State Orchestra in 2006. She has conducted the Rhode Island Junior All-State Orchestra,  the Junior SEMSBA Orchestra, and the Western District String Jamboree. This year, she will be serving as the Concert Chairperson for the Southeastern District Senior Festival.  Ms. Anderson was the conductor of the Intermezzo Strings for the Ocean State Youth Orchestra (OSYO) for 7 years. She is an active musician performing in variety of venues as a violinist. She has performed with the Sinfonie by the Sea, the Boston Philharmonic, the Plymouth Philharmonic, and the New Bedford Symphony. Ms. Anderson is very excited to be establishing the new East Bay Summer String Ensemble which will provide string performers the opportunity to advance their skills as well as perform in an ensemble setting during the summer months.
